Poet mad kanaai (1890-1889)
The poet Pagalanki was a gifted philanthropist. In the month of 1890 (25 phalguns in Bangla 1226) in Lebutla (Baitarari) village near Jhenaidah, the traditionally fertile land of man-sages and mystical music, he got a jam. Among the three children of Kadon-Momena, Pagalankai and Ujjal are both sons and daughters of Swaranni (alternately Saranari). From the time, Pagalakan was very impatient in nature, crazy nature and in love. For the sake of this raga, in the childhood, people add the word 'pagla' with their name, and the title of this madness is compiled in the same form with his work.
Being a father in his early childhood, he became a hawker. It was not possible to learn Kanai's education because of financial insufficiency. After the death of his father, Kana came to Lebutla for some time at the village of Bhatpara in Kaliganj. Later, after working as a shepherd in Balirampur Bhram Mandal's house of Harinakundura, Bhari Swaranaral's mother-in-law took shelter at Berbari. This barbari village is actually known as Kanai's Kirtidharii. His work was done in the house of his sister, the cow. He used to roam the cows and sing loudly and the attendees were fascinated by his music. Thus, in Dhuojajari, he was chalked in his hand. Although no formal education was given to him, then the people of Oul-Baul, Sadh-Fakir, etc., have been known for their excellent inquiries and self-discovery of poet's life about the world and the world. In his song, there is deep affection for the Prophet and Allah's beloved Prophet. Though illiterate Kanai was illiterate, his memory and talent were very keen. He could instantly write one song after the other with immediate attention.
So far, only a few hundred have been collected in the songs written by Pagla Kanai. Dr. Mansur Uddin, Dr. Mazharul Islam, Abu Talib, Amin Uddin Shah, Durgadas Lahiri, Upendranath Bhattacharya etc. have collected and researched the songs of Pagla Kanai. This great Baul poet left the world in July 1889 (28 Ashra of 1296).
